WRGPT 16!
It looks like it's once again time for everyone's favorite email-based poker tournament, the World Rec.Gambling.Poker Tournament 16, also known as WRGPT16.
Now, it may sound a bit weird or lame to do a poker tournament through email, but I'm telling you, it's fun. It's also very competitive. Quite a few pros play. In the past, Chris Ferguson (see where he finished back in 4) and Greg Raymer (see where he finished three years ago) played, and I know that there were a few Tiltboys in last year's tourney (See if you can find me in that Tiltboys blog entry!).
I played last year even though it was my first no-limit tournament against actual humans. I surprised myself by doing quite well, finishing in 29th place out of nearly 1300 entrants. This year, I plan on winning the whole thing!
So sign up! And after you sign up, leave a comment here saying what your playing name is. I can keep track of who's in and we can see who lasts the longest.

I'm in as mbd1mbd1 and currently sitting at 7600. I drew AK and QQ in the first few hands but didn't hit the community cards and couldn't call an all-in either time.

That sucks. You have to be patient in this tourney. There are plenty of chumps who are going in all-in way too soon. Just wait them out and they'll be gone soon.
But yeah, it's hard to slow play or limp in any hand. You always have to be willing to deal with someone coming in over top of you.

Oh no! Sorry about that. Yeah, patience is a key in this tournament (as any poker tournament, I suppose) because it can take so long.

Due to popular demand (well, one guy asked), here's the latest WRGPT standings for the Dave Sez crowd.
It looks like I'm the only one standing. I doubled up to just under $20K about a week or so ago, but I've gotten nothing but crap cards since and my stack is dwindling down again. I never have really gotten a nice big stack like I enjoyed for a time last year. But hey, I'm still alive and anything can happen.
