Tarred and Pumiced Heels

After reading this article about how many North Carolina Tar Heels like to get frequent pedicures, let's just say I wasn't that surprised when the Heels blew a late lead against Maryland. Pedicures. The men's team.

So, maybe they lost a tough road game, but man those feet were beautiful! Soft as a baby's bottom and smelling of lavender.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

As enjoyable as last year's team was, this year's team is about as frustrating to watch (since the Arizona game). Sometimes I feel like Kevin Bacon towards the end of Animal House, yelling 'All is well!' at the top of my lungs when I'm talking to people about this team. *sigh*

That being said, I wasn't as upset with yesterday's loss than I was with the Virginia Tech debacle, and we're still one of the favorites to win the tournament. However, it would be nice to see the Heels get a mean streak and run through the end of the regular season & the ACC Tournament.

I had a long conversation - well, it was largely a monologue - today with a frustrated Carolina fan at work. He was (and probably still is) very pissed about the game. Your point about a mean streak is dead on. It's what I've been telling him all year - this team isn't ready yet. They are a year away. They don't know how to step on teams' throats and finish them off.

The question is how many guys will be back next year to take it to that next level.

On the flip side, all the top teams seem to be stumbling, so maybe Carolina isn't all that unique. That said, I really expect them to get bounced earlier than their seed would indicate in the NCAAs.
