Future Jacket Star?

I don't have much experience watching and evaluating high school football talent, but this highlight reel of Georgia Tech running back recruit Jonathon Dwyer is pretty damn impressive. I don't know, maybe all D-1 RB recruits look like that against high school competition, but even so, it's fun to watch.

No, all recruits are not as talented as Dwyer. I played high school football at Roswell High School, which is in the same region as Dwyer's Kell HS. He is the real deal.

Search for Noel Devine. THAT is a highlight reel. He looks like a Bo Jackson - Barry Sanders combo in his highlights. I hate West Virginia, but they're getting one heck of a player.

Anyhoo, on a different topic, have you heard about Gus Gilchrist decommitting from VT?

I saw the headline, but haven't read the article yet. I saw that the reason was supposedly the shootings at VT, but I suspect that that's just a smokescreen.

I think so too. He has an LOI with VT, so usually that means he'll have to sit out a year before he can play. Part of me wants the LOI released so that he can transfer to wherever he wants, to see what coach would be dirty enough to pull something like this.

That's impressive and all, but from what I've seen, alot of D-1 RBs look like that in high school. I didn't think it was that great, relatively.

That's what I'm thinking too. I don't watch much high school football, but I do read about it. Every year, just in this area, there are a few guys who rush for around 200 yards a game and average something like 5-8 yards per carry. If you are putting up numbers like that, you probably have a lot of highlights.

Still, that kid was impressive.

More about Noel Devine. Averaged 11.5 YPC in his junior season in high school. Can bench press 330 pounds, yet is only 5' 8 and weighs 180. Doesn't convince you? These videos should.

That kid has some good balance! He recovered from a lot of should-have-been tackles.
